It’s always inspiring when two people meet, fall in love, and decide to start a new life together. The only thing that could possibly make for a better story is when that new life involves pizza!
Tara and Sasha Bouis met in the British Virgin Islands. Tara was a shoolteacher, working for the summer as a scuba diving instructor, Shasa was on Wall Street. The couple fell in love and decided to spend their lives together in paradise.
They bought a boat, and after a few years ferrying tourists around the islands, decided that what the region really needed was offshore pizza delivery. After they spent over two years learning how to cook and turning an abandoned sailboat boat into a professional-grade pizza kitchen, the couple opened Pizza Pi, the Virgin Islands’ only floating pizza restaurant, in 2014.
The business was an immediate success, and continues to grow. When Tara and Sasha started out, they were selling about 20 pizzas a day and working five days a week. After only three years, they now employ a staff of ten and sell an average of 90 pizzas a day, seven days a week, though they take a break during hurricane season. Their pizzas are extremely popular with the jet-ski crowd and feature some unusual toppings such as freshly picked mangoes, from trees on the local islands.
If their story wasn’t romantic enough, the couple welcomed their first daughter, Fiona, in November 2015, and they are expecting a second bundle of joy any day now!
